Bangla text conversion
Unicode to Bijoy Converter
Convert Unicode Bangla into legacy Bijoy text for a SutonnyMJ document, or bring an old Bijoy passage back to Unicode.
0 / 10,000 characters
Bijoy codes need a matching font, such as SutonnyMJ, in the destination document.
Conversion runs in this browser. The converter does not send your text to a conversion server.
From Unicode Bangla to a Bijoy document
- Paste Unicode Bangla, including text typed with Avro in Unicode mode. Leave the direction set to Unicode to Bijoy and convert.
- Copy the result into the destination document. Select the converted passage and apply a matching legacy font, such as SutonnyMJ, that you are licensed to use.
- Compare the rendered passage with your original, especially conjuncts and vowel signs. Keep the original Unicode copy for editing and web use.
Why does the result look like English letters?
Legacy Bijoy text stores Bengali glyph codes in positions normally used for Latin letters and symbols. For example, বাংলা becomes evsjv. The result box shows those codes, not a SutonnyMJ font preview. Changing the font in the destination document makes the glyphs readable as Bangla.
This is an encoding conversion, not translation or a downloadable font. Applying a Unicode Bengali font to Bijoy codes will not decode them. No legacy font is bundled with this page.
Bijoy to Unicode for websites and messages
Choose Bijoy to Unicode for a passage copied from a legacy-font document. Convert and copy the result into a Unicode-capable editor or message. Use a Unicode Bengali font there, rather than SutonnyMJ.
Convert the Bengali passage separately from English names, web addresses and identifiers. The same Latin characters can mean English or Bijoy glyph codes, so plain text alone cannot reliably identify which meaning you intended. Existing Unicode Bengali is left in place.
Conversion limits and checks
- Up to 10,000 characters per passage. Plain text only: document formatting, font runs, images and scanned PDF text are not imported.
- The converter targets the library's Bijoy mapping, not every historical Bengali font or keyboard layout. A keyboard layout and a text encoding are different things.
- Unicode-to-Bijoy output is checked for unmapped Bengali characters and compared with a reverse conversion. A warning means the text needs review; a matching reverse conversion is not proof of correct typography.
- Unsupported characters or joiner sequences produce an error rather than a partially converted result. Broken source text cannot always be recovered by converting it.
